What we care about

Authenticity

Morton Court Publishing is owned by Kenton Nelson and is the only official store selling his prints, posters, books, and other printed works. Everything you see here is approved by Kenton himself. No mass reproductions allowed.

Delight

We believe art is meant to be
loved—forever. And the extraordinary high quality of the pieces we sell reflects that. We are so happy to provide access to Kenton’s work to people for whom it’s out of reach financially.

Humanity

We are a (very!) small business and our people take the utmost care in making sure your experience with Morton Court is a good one. We donate a portion of proceeds from Kenton’s print sales to local community-focused nonprofits.

About Kenton Nelson

Kenton was born, raised, and educated in Los Angeles, and he worked out of his Pasadena art studio for over 40 years. He now resides and works in San Clemente (The Spanish Village by the Sea) on the Southern California coast. He has been on the faculty of the Otis Parsons Art Institute in Los Angeles and the Academy of Art in San Francisco.

Kenton traces his interest in painting back to his great uncle, Roberto Montenegro, renowned Mexican muralist and Modernist. The style of his paintings is influenced by American Scene painting, Regionalism, and the work of the WPA artists of the 1930s.

Primarily self-taught, painting with oil on canvas or panel, Kenton creates his “perfect world,” full of implied stories and glorious California light.

Kenton’s paintings have been featured seven times on the cover of The New Yorker magazine, and his work has been enjoyed in hundreds of exhibitions in galleries all over Califorina, to New York, London, Salzburg, and Zurich. His paintings can be found in the permanent art collections of the Albertina Museum, Palm Springs Art Museum, Crocker Art Museum, Laguna Art Museum, and more.

FAQ

  • A giclee (pronounced zhee-KLAY) print is a professional inkjet print. Our trusted printer uses the finest archival inks available, on acid-free, 100% cotton fine art paper. This printing process boasts vivid, rich colors and beautiful details, just like Kenton Nelson’s original paintings. All of our prints are hand-signed by the artist.

  • Upon printing a limited edition of prints, there will often be several Artist Proofs included. These are identical to the prints in the edition, and can be for the archival collection of the artist, or he/she may choose to sell some, as an extension of the edition, as the edition sells out.

  • We know that art is such a personal choice. Our desire is that you absolutely love what you purchase, and are 100% satisfied with the quality. If not, please contact us for a return shipping label and full refund.
